Welcome to Fossoway Church

Junior Church happens every Sunday during the school term time.  We meet in the church and spend 15 minutes or so sitting with our families and joining in with community worship for a little while.

After Time to Talk (the children's talk), we go upstairs to our Junior Church room. This is a bright and cheerful room which we share with the crèche. We do a wide variety of activities depending on the teaching material for the week but it can include anything from games, action songs, discussions, listening to a Bible story, drama or even a puppet show.   We also try our hand at crafts, painting, collage or modelling.  Sometimes we bake something or construct something.  It’s always a busy time!

There is a good team of Junior Church teachers, all of whom are church-going parents of children or teenagers.  They take turns to lead and work principally under the Scripture Union Light material although we bring in other material as and when we feel there’s something different which the children would benefit from. You can learn more about the SU Light curriculum on their website at www.scriptureunion.org.uk. Our experience of the SU material is that it’s a good spiritual "workout" for the children to follow during the session, to enable them to learn of God's word, the ways He wants us to live and how to try to follow His instructions. Above all, it’s fun!

We welcome all children from P1 to P7.  Depending on our numbers we do split the age groups P1-P3 and P4-P7 as the learning levels can be quite different. The children attend several local primary schools, not just Fossoway, and they are always very welcoming to new friends. Sunday mornings are a precious time for family, especially nowadays when so much is organised at the weekend and for a family to go to church together is as precious a time as you can find.
